CSTS Visits for May and July 2025
22nd May 2025 Gloucestershire Energy From Waste (GEFW) – Javelin Park incinerator. We have 15 places on this visit, some people are already booking, if you want to come please let me know very soon at . There is information from GEFW and a form everyone has to complete individually, much of the information is to ensure health and safety, which I will send to you when you book. The tour of the site is not suitable for people who would not be comfortable walking for 45 mins, partly on a metal mesh surface at height, with stairs. People who feel they couldn’t manage this, including me, can attend for the explanatory talk, see some parts of the building, then wait for the others to return. When you book please can you say whether you would be happy with the high level, mesh walking! There is no charge for this visit. It is close to home, near J12 on the M5, when I know who is coming we will talk about car sharing, so please can you also tell me where you live when booking. 1st – 6th July The Royal Society Summer Science Exhibition London SW1Y 5AG This is a free annual celebration of cutting edge science, offering an opportunity to meet world-leading researchers from Universities and science institutions from across the UK. Insight into this event is on their website www.royalsociety.org, the programme for 2024 is there, the programme for 2025 will be published on their website soon. This does not need booking, and once there everyone can concentrate on the exhibits and talks interesting them most. I suggest we go on Wednesday 2nd July or Thursday 3rd, we will have a coach, this will be the only cost. Please email me if you would like to go, with your preferred day, also whether you would come if the majority wanted the other day. I know this makes it more complicated, so please let me know really soon. I hope you will be interested in these visits.
